CHAPTER I — LOGICALLY, THIS WORLD HAS TO BE A SIMULATION.

(The Epistemology of Rendering)

Look at our trajectory

from Windows 95 to Vision Pro,

from pixels to presence,

from watching to feeling.

Every layer of reality

is being rendered faster, sharper, cleaner.

Soon, the difference will be impossible to see.

But logic is not touch.

When a needle touches skin,

and warmth, pressure, pain flood in

can that be simulated?

Perhaps one day Neuralink will fool the brain completely.

But even then

would it be the feeling itself,

or just the memory of having felt?

A signal can imitate pain.

It can trigger the neurons, mimic the pattern, reproduce the data.

But the question remains

does imitation ever hurt?

Can an algorithm truly suffer,

or does it only describe the shape of suffering?

It isn’t red.

It’s what red becomes

when the system tries to imitate life and fails.

mapped where flesh met technology.

My work begins after that map

where sensation itself becomes the new frontier.

Not the body’s shape,

but the body’s pain the one signal technology still can’t copy.

Every mark I leave is not a vector, but a brush touch

a primitive gesture that refuses automation,

a tremor that algorithms can only measure, not understand.

Each stroke is a record of time the system still can’t quantify

a moment that resists perfect rendering.

Because every version, every update,

only deepens the illusion it tries to repair.

One day, a quantum render might capture

even this vibration, this smallest movement of the hand.

But if that moment ever arrives

will the tremor still mean we were alive?

Or will it just mean the system finally learned how to fake it?

My work does not offer answers.

It builds questions

living interfaces that ask, not tell.

Each piece is a test,

a way to measure what still feels human

inside an increasingly simulated world.

If everything can be replicated,

if touch itself can one day be coded

then what will be the last thing the system can’t fake?

Will we still be warm?
